Must-Have Tech for Remote Workers

Many of you who know me now that I am a remote worker and an avid tech person! But what I have not shared are the gadgets that I’ve sworn by that make my experience working from home make me not miss working from an office! If you’re looking for gadgets for your work home experience or just looking to treat your favorite digital nomad, these are the must-haves!

Jawbone Mini Jambox Wireless Bluetooth Speaker (Graphite Facet)

The best advantage of working from home is that often your music (whether you play loud or not) will not bother your neighbors and you can change based on your focus levels! If you like to blast speakers, I am a fan of my mini Jawbone speakers– great on the go (i.e. hiding in the conference room) or great when you’re cooking during that lunch break! They’re a bit outdated, but if you’re looking for simplistic, but they’re a great “beginners” tool.

Bose QuietComfort 20 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones, Apple Devices, BlackBose QuietComfort 35 (Series II) Wireless Headphones, Noise Cancelling - Black

When you work remote, you are well aware of those frustrating moments when the lawn mower is going or my neighbors are being too loud outdoors, I switch to my Bose noise-cancelling headphones. My personal preference is in-ear Bose QuietComfort 20 Acoustic headphonessince I’m not moving around. My personal note is that I get GIANT use of these on planes (I swear my ears popping doesn’t bother me anymore because of these babies)! For folks who get irritated with the wires, my favorite alternative is the Bose QuietComfort 35 (Series II) Wireless Headphones. As you can tell, I am a Bose fan-girl! (The quality is well worth the cost!)

Power bank

Anker PowerCore II 20000, High Capacity Portable Charger with Dual USB Ports, Upgraded PowerIQ 2.0

It is important to keep remote workers connected with their job. If you’re ever like me, even a minute without access of my phone can make me a less effective teammate! And that means that if all of my USBs are being used up, or if I run quickly to get coffee or on the go, then my trusty Anker power bank (Anker PowerCore II 20000, 20100mAh Portable Charger with Dual USB Ports, PowerIQ 2.0 (up to 18W Output) Power Bankcomes to the rescue! The important thing to note is that unlike a pharmacy power bank, you can go days without having to charge it and when you need to, they charge fast! Anker has cheaper alternatives, but I’ve purchased one and have not had to replace it in over 4 years! (Ridiculously awesome!)

A Great Scanner/Printer Option

HP Envy 7640 Wireless All-in-One Photo Printer with Mobile Printing

Contrary to popular belief, even in a tech job you need to scan and print documents! My current printer is my favorite one to date– the HP Envy 7640 All-in-One! Probably the largest of the gadgets I depend on, I love being able to still scan and fax documents to coworkers and customers, print training workbooks and of course if I need to fill in forms without using software, this is usually the best option. My favorite part of it is being able to use their companion mobile app “HP Smart”, where I can print documents and images from my phone to the printer, if I am ever in a rush.

In the end, these are my preferences and of course there’s so many additional products companies use! Remember depending on your work, you should always speak with employees and your employee handbook about company compliance (i.e. how you back up files in your company, etc). Otherwise simple jobs to make your experience a little bit better will always make you efficient! Keep it up and hope this helps!
