If you have not seen anything about Salesforce and how it works, this is the place to begin! Salesforce has its own FREE resource for learning everything Salesforce here. This is most people’s primary introduction to learning.
Need a comprehensive guide of all the certification paths? This is the comprehensive guide to all 25 certifications that Salesforce offers, as well as an explanation of the 6 roles and training resources that Salesforce provides.
(Learn more about all certifications here.)
(The old certification guide can be found here.)
Learn more directly from Salesforce about how you could develop your career in the Salesforce ecosystem. The trail is ~5 hours, but it’s great career development education for all! I encourage you to do the “Career Development Planning” module- a great place to start.
Need to collaborate with others? Consider this a more collaborative “forum” for asking questions, attending events and asking for help. As always, be respectful and make it easy for users to help you! There is everything from Study groups, to local groups to even job postings!
If you’re an interested WIT interested in Development career- join the Salesforce Women In Tech Developers group!
Looking for additional study materials? This is my favorite “unofficial” Salesforce resource. When I felt that others were a little too easy and needed something that was more reliability in updated information, this was an excellent place to go. Not to mention their study guides/practice exams (not free) in my personal opinion are one of the best in the market and are worth it.
With one of the more challenging topics Flows, I have taken a number of Andy’s courses and have been really impressed with his breakdowns of the concepts! If this topic is something you struggle with- I definitely encourage this resource.
This is another great studying resource! The admin version is free, but I definitely have found that their exam notes are helpful in getting concise with the general topics of the course. They provide PLENTY of resources and links to dive deeper into the contexts, projects to practice your assignments, and quite a few other things. At a similar price point to Focus on Force, definitely another great self-study too.
Apart from their awesome blog posts and strong industry-focused content, I find them to also be a great resource for exam practice and additional career support! Definitely worth a few reads!
Any student, staff member, or faculty member at an accredited college or university is eligible to apply to start a Salesforce Student Group! Within the Salesforce Trailblazer Community group, participating or creating your own Student Group can be an excellent way to get opportunities to not only Salesforce leadership, education but also mentorship and being the future of Salesforce.
Certified? Time to job hunt!
While it may be challenging to pivot with your new career path, being certified is a huge step! My favorite place to job hunt (and where I’ve found all my jobs!) is through LinkedIn. Many recruiters are on there, so don’t forget to optimize your profile.
Where do I sign up for exams? Schedule your Salesforce certification exam here. You can also purchase a non-proctored practice exam as well!
You failed the exam… now what? In addition to the percentages you were provided via the email after your exam, here’s a quick way to calculate your total score! Huge thanks to Scuvanov on GitHub!
While I generally recommend the study path from Admin to Developer because it gives professionals the opportunity to learn the platform without coding first, I am often asked what are some Salesforce developer resources. While Trailhead and Community could be valuable generally for all, focusing your efforts in getting an account under the Developer forum could be crucial to coding in a sandbox environment, as well as access to API documentations, etc.
Run by three incredible Salesforce Architects, this study group encourages participation for those on their journey to becoming a CTA. They run cert prep study groups and have a diverse community! Learn more about the founder and co-leaders here.
As noted on their LinkedIn page, GEMs in Tech is a volunteer-led community centered on supporting Black women, women of color, and non-binary individuals in North America in their transition to a tech/Salesforce career or to thrive in their existing career. They’re also on Twitter & Discord!
Thanks to the wonderful Cassie Supilowski, a community-sourced job board for new Salesforce professionals is born! I encourage you to contribute and check it out!
I’d be remiss to not share some of the incredible non-profits that are working to get more Salesforce professionals out there! Here are a few well-known ones with great mentors and trainers!
