🔍 Lipstick and Tech’s Mission
Lipstick and Tech will create a platform and online community that allows young women to explore, embrace and combine their love for all things technology, beauty and style related by providing highly curated information, educational materials and products that inspire them to disengage from the traditional nerdy girl archetype.
The blog will deliver to its readers a boost in confidence, inspiration and motivation to continue working in tech, as well as a sense of belonging in what is sometimes unchartered and lonely territory . I aim to do this by giving free tips and advice which make entering tech and learning more about tech careers approachable and fun, and by providing content that is of interest to “stylish” career women in tech.
👩🏽💻 The story behind Lipstick and Tech
I wanted a blog that spoke to me, and originally I wanted to just talk about technology, women in tech, etc. But I knew this was not a true depiction of who I was as a person. I’m not the girl that can spend hours talking about a CPU. While important, I also enjoy talking to my friends about makeup, clothing sales- it comes to me naturally. I wanted to provide resources to learn more about technology, discuss career topics, and of course share some fun stylish finds. I finally decided that I had to create such a blog.
The name came to mind because many of my friends used to talk about my lipstick collection… they were not wrong. Almost to the point that I have the same amount of lipstick than I do to other “makeup components”. Hence- Lipstick and Tech. I would then discover a community of fellow nerds that didn’t fit the stereotype.
