Salesforce is a company that provides software for sales, service, marketing, and commerce professionals. This company began with the development of CRM software in 1999. Now it has become one of the world’s largest providers of enterprise cloud computing solutions. Salesforce offers various opportunities for different people to pursue careers, especially technical ones.

Salesforce careers are perfect for people who want to work in technical positions, enjoy solving problems, and work with other high-skilled people around them. However, it may not suit those who don’t like change or unpredictability.

Suppose you are great at communication, eager to learn, willing to support customers and peers, and know fundamental business analysis and PM. In that case, I think you have the qualifications of an admin. I was always more interested in solving people/business problems and didn’t want to code, so my transition into Admin and eventually consulting careers was an excellent fit. If you love to be technically hands-on, love the challenge of hacking a problem, and prefer spending more of your time with problems than people, then Salesforce development may be right for you.

When newbies ask if Salesforce technical careers like Salesforce Administrator or Developer are suitable for them, it often depends on their motivators. From my ecosystem, many find the following things attractive:

• Options for Work-from-Home
• Possibility of earning a six-figure career in about three years of experience
• Degrees are not necessarily a requirement
• Ability to learn valuable skills that are transferrable across cloud computing skills

As well-intentioned as I and many other career coaches or tech professionals are, it’s an important disclaimer to make that reflecting on the things you enjoy and don’t are pretty helpful in making these career decisions. Cash shouldn’t be the only factor– the items listed above, along with things like work-life balance, leadership, and your day-to-day, may determine how much you enjoy your work.
